Hill Country Institute Booklet

I was asked to lay out the contents of a 32-page booklet for Hill Country Institute’s Faith and Science Symposium. As this was one of the last components of the symposium, I worked within the branding scheme already created and used the art and fonts from the cover design. I was also asked to select photos to be incorporated throughout the booklet to add beauty and interest. Below are a few selected pages from the booklet.

Website Redesign

The clients wanted a website that was friendly, yet professional. They also wanted pop. The texture adds interest and the pops of orange in the color scheme direct the eye to the important links on the site. I wanted to develop the “bamboo=growth” aspect of their branding, so I incorporated growing stalks of bamboo into the imagery, and used green as the dominant color to achieve this as well. Unfortunately, the design deviated too much from their current site, so we tweaked their current design and tossed this one in the can. I liked it, though, so here it is.

SRS State Department Report

Silk Road Solutions, a leadership development initiative in Afghanistan, needed a professional layout design for their recent womens’ training report for the State Department. This project was easy to get behind, and as I read their stories, I was moved by their courage. I chose to highlight and enlarge phrases from the Afghan women in the training as a way to balance the space, add interest and call attention to their personal stories.

Noonday Collection Identity

Identity project for Noonday Collection, a fair trade accessory company featuring artisans from around the world. The client wanted the logo to exude whimsy, while also reflecting the international diversity of her products. To execute this, I created a circular pattern that combines motifs from Noonday artisans in Africa, the Middle East and South America. The hand-lettered, handwriting-style type finishes the logo off with the element of whimsy the client was hoping to achieve.

GreenSet Austin Identity

Logo design for GreenSet Austin, a company dedicated to environmentally friendly film set and event waste management. GreenSet wanted a image that could work for a film set or an event, while also being able to use the type independently from the design element. I worked in leaves to the type to make this possible.
It was great to work with them, and I even got to volunteer with them for a recent event!

Decker-Minks Wedding

5.5 x 8.5 Wedding Invitations
I loved doing these invites for Eddie and Josie! Their ceremony and reception took place at a ranch with vintage inspired decor and airstream trailers scattered around the property. That was all the inspiration I needed – the trailers fit perfectly with the “getting hitched” verbiage and the wood texture set the mood for an outdoorsy ceremony in the Texas hill country.
