Blog header for DepewRedo.com, a journal of a 1916 house renovation in central Austin. The author/renovator gave me an old Sanborn Fire Insurance map that she wanted used in the design. The buildings on these maps were colored to indicate what each building was made of, and this concept was the inspiration for the color block design.
